Streetwear Terminology
BOGO (Box Logo)
Bogo is an amalgamation of the words “box” and “logo”. The term is most commonly used to describe Supreme’s famous box logo hoodies and tees.
Fufu
Short for Fugazi.
1. Artificial, fake. Something that has no substance.
2. A really bad knockoff, a copy.
Ex: "Nicole Nicole is so clueless, she has no idea her Gucci glasses are Fugazi"
Proxy
A proxy is a middleman who has access to streetwear drops that are difficult to obtain. A proxy could be someone who lives in a particular city that a streetwear item will be released in or someone who works in the retail store selling the item in question.
ATC (Add To Cart) service
It’s a service you pay that adds a specific shoe to your cart automatically on release day. All you have to do is log in, check out and wait for your shoes to arrive.
Lowball
The act of offering way below the item’s market value. Lowballers are cheapskates looking for a steal. You wouldn’t want to be that guy. If you encounter them, block them.
LPU (Latest Pick Up)
Commonly found in streetwear discussion threads. For members to showcase their new hype purchases.
L/W (Lose/Win)
Commonly used for copping sneaker/apparel drops at retail prices. You almost always see people posting the letter “L” because, in this world of limited releases, there are more losers than winners.
GOAT
Acronym for Greatest Of All Time, the label GOAT can be applied to the best sneakers, basketball players, rappers or even politicians. You can even use the goat emoji, 🐐, if you don’t want to type it out.
Beaters
We all have one, whether it's a Vans Old Skool or an Air Force 1. It's that worn but lived-in shoe, the one you just can't give up. It is usually a fairly common sneaker of little value which, therefore, can be used often without taking care to safeguard it.
Bred
born from the union of "black" and "red". The fusion of these words has become known through some very popular Nike models, including the Air Jordan 1 Bred OG, the Air Jordan 1 Bred Toe and the Air Jordan 4 Bred. Recently, it was also used on a Yeezy Boost 350 V2.
Colorway
literally "coloring", often abbreviated to "cw". It is used to refer to the color scheme used on a particular sneaker. Many colorways have gone down in history for their typicality, among which we remember the "Bred", which we have just told you about.
Double-up
It used to refer to having two pairs of the same shoes. It often happens when a sneaker is so beautiful that you want to use it both thoughtlessly and collect and keep DS.
Kicks
term to refer to one's shoes, synonymous with sneakers.
Types Of Fashion
Classic
Apparel made in a style that continues to be fashionable over a long period of time, and that may return as high fashion at regular intervals. When revived, classic fashions retain the basic line of the original style but are sometimes altered in minor details
FAD
Short-lived fashion that becomes suddenly extremely popular, remains for a short period of time and fades quickly.
Avant Grade (ah-vant gard)
French term commonly used in English meaning new, unconventional, ahead of its time.Used as an adjective to describe apparel that may be provocative or startling.
Couture (Koo-ture)
A French term for business in which original apparel designs are created by designers & the items is manufactured in the design house using exceptionally fine sewing & tailoring and expensive fabrics.
Haute Couture (oat koo-toor)
Haute couture (French for “high sewing” or “high dressmaking”) refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing. Haute couture is made to order for a specific customer, and it is usually made from high-quality, expensive fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finish, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques Firms that create a model that may be sold to private customers or other segments of the fashion industry who also acquire the right to reproduce other designs. Designers show at least 2 collections a year of original designs to the public. An original design is not the only one of its kind, but means only that the garment was designed and made in the atelier of the designer. What is the difference between couture and haute couture?
Couture is the art of dressmaking
Haute Couture is the fashions created by the art of dressmaking.
Knock-off
An item of apparel copied from a more expensive item and generally manufactured from low-priced components so it can sell at a lower price. Compare with LINE-For-LINE COPY and PIRACY. Such as NIKE, SUNBUCKS, ADIDAS, etc.
High- Fashion
Apparel of advanced design available from innovative designers and/or firms. It is usually more expensive & is a trend-setting fashion.
Bridge Fashion
A line at the upper end of the apparel price range that is made with fewer details and less expensive fabrics than designer clothing
Pret-a-porter (pret-ah–por-tay)
The French term for ready-to-wear clothes. Many Haute couture designers produce special dress, less expensive pret-a-porter lines of clothing in addition to their custom-made lines. French, “ready to be carried away”
READY-TO-WEAR (RTW)
Apparel that is designed, marketed, and sold in standard sizes and is mass-produced.
Describing apparel that does not need any tailoring (for example hemming) before it can be worn off-the-rack. In French it is called prêt-à-porter & UK off the rack or “off-the-peg” in casual use)
Terms
Cargo Pants
Cargo pants or trousers, also sometimes called combat trousers after their original military purpose, are lightly cropped trousers originally designed for harsh outdoor activities and whose design is distinguished by one or more cargo pockets. Cargo pants have also become popular in urban areas since they are convenient for carrying items on day trips on foot.

Silhouette
Contour or outline as shown in a solid black background on white background. Formerly a term widely used to indicate a trend in length & general outline of garment for the coming season. Named after a French author and statesmen “Etienine de Silhouette, who made portraits in black with no background.
Pattern
The pattern is an underlying structure that organizes surfaces or structures in a consistent, regular manner. The pattern can be described as a repeating unit of shape or form, but it can also be thought of as the “skeleton” that organizes the parts of a composition.
