Nana

Nana

The story, set in contemporary Japan, follows the story of two twenty-year-old girls, Nana Komatsu and Nana Osaki, who share the same name and the same decision to move to Tokyo. The two young women take the same train to the Japanese capital, and that's where they meet. Separated at the station, they will later meet by chance in an apartment that they both intend to rent: they will decide to be roommates and to share daily life together. Nana Osaki decides to go to Tokyo to be successful with her band, while Nana Komatsu, nicknamed "Hachi", initially goes there to join her boyfriend, Shoji, who will betray her with a colleague of hers. Upon finding out, Hachi is desperate, but Nana comforts her with determination; the two thus become best friends, despite the enormous differences in character, and will live, together with the members of Nana's and Ren's band, the memorable and complex moments typical of rock star life.

I talk to you about the characters and their life so the concept I want to convey begins to become clearer.

Nana Osaki
She is one of the two protagonists. She had a difficult childhood: she was abandoned at the age of 4 by her mother who ran away with a man and without ever having known her father, she was entrusted by her mother to her grandmother. She wrongly accused of prostitution, she decides to avoid any unnecessary justification by dropping out of school. After the death of her grandmother, thanks to her friend and schoolmate Nobuo Terashima, often simply called Nobu, she meets Ren Honjo and Yasushi Takagi (called Yasu). The two offer her to participate in their project to found a band: she accepts Nana, and she becomes the lead singer of the Black Stones (often abbreviated to "Blast"). The name of the band comes from the name of a brand of cigarettes that Yasu apparently likes a lot. In fact, despite her being a singer, Nana smokes a lot. A relationship is born between her and Ren, broken by the latter's choice to move to Tokyo to pursue a musical career with another group, Trapnest, close to their official debut. Nana initially discouraged, decides after two years to move to Tokyo to pursue her dream: to become a professional singer. Her meeting with Nana Komatsu will change her life. In Tokyo, she reunites with Ren, starting a troubled relationship. In fact, Nana still has a grudge against her beloved who has abandoned her. Nana is also jealous of the relationship that binds Ren and Reira. At the same time, she is unable to detach herself from him, precisely by virtue of the love she feels for him. After Ren's death, Nana makes her lose track and all over Japan will believe her dead, when in reality she moved to England, where she found a job as a singer in a club, but she performs wearing a blonde wig and clothes. elegant in order not to be recognized. Nana is a determined, transgressive, and grumpy girl, but also faithful and protective of her friend of the same name.

Nana "Hachi" Komatsu
She is one of the two protagonists. She has a quiet past filled with unrequited love with older men, the last of whom, Asano, was married. Thanks to her best friend Junko, Nana meets a boy named Shoji, whom she begins dating. Shoji, after graduation, leaves for Tokyo to try admission to the Academy of Fine Arts: Hachi has agreed with him to reach him when she too will graduate. Once she moves to Tokyo, however, things don't go as she hoped. In fact, Shoji had in the meantime fallen in love with Sachiko Kawamura, a colleague of his. Nana, after this relationship ended badly, will recover soon, establishing a strong bond with Nobuo Terashima, the Blast guitarist, after leaving her "secret" love Takumi Ichinose, bassist of Trapnest. Unfortunately, her relationship with Nobu is not destined to last either: shortly after the beginning of her relationship with Nobuo, she realizes that she is pregnant with Takumi, who is determined to take care of the child and marry her. . She dwarf accepts her, although she is still in love with Nobu. For the sake of the child, she still decides to commit herself to build a happy family, in which her son can grow up in a healthy way. Nana and Takumi will have two children: a boy, Ren, and a girl, Satsuki. Nana is a sunny, naive, sweet and caring girl, often obsessed with the "Great Heavenly Demon" and the recurrence of her number 7 in her life. Due to her character, her namesake friend Nana of hers amicably gives her the nickname "Hachiko", after her famous faithful little dog.

These two girls are the characters that I have decided to represent in my project, frankly as a character I mirror myself more in Nana Osaki. At first sight determined and transgressive, she always wears very dark clothes and uses accessories by Vivienne Westwood; she has short saucy black hair, dark eyes, and her lips are always tinged with red. Her character is very different from the other Nana; in fact, so much "Hachi" is a dreamer, romantic and sunny, so much Nana is cynical, serious, and shady. However, the singer will end up forging a strong bond with the other with almost possessive attitudes, to the point of seeming almost in love with her (in one scene from the anime, Nana kisses Hachi during a night walk and there are other scenes where the two girls they seem to feel a mutual attraction). From a certain point of view, I mirror myself in his cynicism. The first time I saw the anime I fell madly in love with her and her character as a woman also from the point of view of her aggressive and alternative style of dressing.
Moreover, the other character Nana Hachi falls in love easily, she is dreamy and even a little naive. You can write SMS to your cell phone very quickly; in addition, she has many bizarre habits, such as always invoking the Great Heavenly Demon, a sort of personalized deity, to blame for all the unpleasant things that happen to her. She has light brown hair and large hazel eyes.
I will inspire my project about the life and emotions of those two characters but probably I will concentrate my self on Nana Osaki like I already said before she has the character I mirror myself in some point of view.
In the next post, I will explain better how to develop my project from this point of view also by doing various researches on other stylists who have been inspired by anime for their collections.
