I hate Art!

 I Hate Art!

I begin by saying that I hate giving this definition to paintings but unfortunately or fortunately each of us has different tastes. I have two or three paintings that I cannot appreciate even if the same artist has painted other paintings that make me dream.

Icaro, table VIII of the book "Jazz", Henri Matisse.
1947

Matisse realizes the book "Jazz" which contains twenty plates and some written in felt-tip pen. In this period the artist is confined to a wheelchair and since he can no longer paint he develops a decoupage technique called "papiers decoupès". Matisse cuts out colored carat sheets with scissors, obtaining shapes that he then assembles. To be honest I also feel guilty judging this work for the story told above but obviously compared to his other works there are no comparisons both in terms of technique but also the subject itself.
I studied this pear of his in high school and from the first moment I was amazed at how this work could belong to him obviously then reading both life and because this work was made I made up my mind.

  1. I thought you gave some good reasons for including this in the seminar - some artists are over exposed in terms of the examples of their work that we see repeatedly, Matisse is one of those (also van Gogh as was discussed elsewhere).
Make sure you include the correct reference for your image at the end of your post.
