The Ultimate Black
For the creation of my collection, I am in doubt whether to use a single style or mix the classic with streetwear. It is actually a very interesting combination of styles and I can already visualize some garments. As for the ultimate black which is the theme I chose for my project, I'm working on it as my color will surely be black. Currently the color black has taken on a particular meaning in the world of fashion, in fact black are the evening dresses, those of the actors and often of the directors, in this case, the black emphasizes the silhouette or gives greater importance to the person as in the cast of comedians and actors, but above all black esoterically as socially indicates the will to go against the mass and not wanting to follow the guidelines dictated by society to instead follow the path of one's own will, which often happens in adolescence and that is why many adolescents for a period of their life they dress in black clothes or follow fashions that praise the use of black.
At the same time, it is the color of darkness, death, evil, and mystery, it speaks to us of emptiness, chaos, and origins, it is counterbalanced by its opposite, white, a symbol of light. Black was the color of Saturn, god of the relentless passing of time-honored in Rome in the Saturnalia, the year-end party that coincided with the death and rebirth of the sun, whose rite expressed the natural imperative for which the old order must dying to give rise to the new by creating an infinite cycle of death and rebirth, even if at a deeper level the feast of the saturnalia makes us associate the color black with the understanding that death and rebirth are transitory phases of a wider continuity. (Black Color)
Synonymous with elegance and refinement, the 'color' black has always been the undisputed protagonist of some memorable moments in the history of fashion in the world. The color, which is not really a color, has captured the hearts of the greatest movie stars, from the golden years of Hollywood to 2015, which is reaching its end. Coco Chanel made it her style banner, Audrey Hepburn consecrated it as a synonym of elegance: the black color and its thousand ways in which it can be worn.
Black helps to define the silhouette and lean it, moreover, it is a color that goes well with everything.
Here I will make a list of the black dresses that have made fashion history for me:
Starting with Audrey Hepburn who in the interpreter of Holly, a very young girl of great charm and spontaneity who makes do with various 'jobs' for a living, has branded her image in an undisputed icon of timeless style. It was she who wore the famous Givenchy Hubert dress while having breakfast in front of Tiffany's Fifth Avenue store in New York. In the world of cinema, Marilyn Monroe also added a piece to the history of black in the film 'Some Like It Hot, in which she wore what has been declared the sexiest dress in the history of cinema: the black dress with strategic transparencies. Another historical moment of Hollywood cinema in the field of black clothes is that of Olivia Newton-John in the role of 'Sandy' in Grease, in her sexy leggings in leather and top with a navel outside in a total black look. Black was not only a symbol of elegance and sensuality, it was also meant to look at women as a symbol of mourning. Coco Chanel invented the Little Black Dress (LBD) or Petit Robe Noire in the 1920s and revolutionized the social codes of those times, in which dark colors were purely masculine. Women began to gain a foothold in society even symbolically, wearing typical male clothes.
Plus the icing on the cake is with Anna Wintour:
Black is always in fashion and at the same time, it is trendy. the timeless color par excellence is also a fetish symbol of many fashion editors: just think of the dark goggles that hide the glacial gaze of the powerful Anna Wintour.
One of the points I want to develop is how black enhances the female silhouette and how to combine elegant style with streetwear.
