When Art Meets Fashion 2
Collaborations
The meeting between the genius of Salvador Dalì and that of Elsa Schiaparelli gave life to one of the collaborations between the most beautiful artists and designers in the history of fashion. The 1930s were running and both were linked to the surrealist current, so much as to share the same artistic sensibility. On the other hand, the historic rival designer of Coco Chanel shook bonds with many intellectuals of the time, from Man Ray to Cocteau: many are to consider yourself as a surrealist. From the friendship with Dalì born the lobster dress was born, in 1937. The artist designed a large lobster on the skirt of a long white silk evening dress: the dress, worn by Wallis Simpson, bounced the name of Schiaparelli from A leader to the other of the world making it become one of the most discussed and popular stylists of time. Subsequently, the two realized another masterpiece: the hat-shoe. The curious object, a high-shaped heeled shoe of a hat, is inspired by a dalì design based on a photograph taken from a gala. A bizarre idea, absurd that, however, proved to be very successful.
I decided to do some research as already in the first post I did on the collaboration between fashion and art to take inspiration from these great artists. Obviously not being a designer I can't recreate clothes but I can do it through photography and take inspiration from these great minds.
